According to sources, LCD panel maker JapanDisplay is developing a 3.25-inch display with a pixel density of up to 1001ppi. This display panel is mainly used for VR helmets.

At present, the screen pixel density of HTCVivoPro is relatively high among the same type of products, but it is only 615ppi. In comparison, HTCVive is 448ppi, OculusRift is 461ppi, and Sony's PlayStationVR is only 386ppi.
In addition to ultra-high pixel density, JapanDisplay's display response time has been reduced to 2.2 milliseconds, refresh rate is 120Hz, and the resolution is 2160x2432. In contrast, the PlayStationVR has a resolution of 1920x1080 while the HTC VivePro has a 2880x1600.
Considering that Sony itself is a member of JapanDisplay, their next-generation PlayStationVR is likely to have two such display panels. According to the official said the panel will be shipped by the end of March 2019.
