In the large-size OLED field, LGDisplay is the only panel maker capable of large-scale mass production. In order to enhance the competitiveness in the ultra-large-size TV market, LG Display decided to build the world's first 10.5 OLED panel production line to achieve large-scale mass production. TV screen has become a trend
According to South Korean media reports, LGD decided to set the P10 plant's investment direction to 10.5 OLED production lines, and the production capacity will be increased from the current 30,000 monthly to 45,000 per month, expanding by 50%. However, the poor liquidity in the LCD market has led to a decrease in LGD profits and an increase in financial variables, which may affect other investment plans in 2018. And the large-scale OLED panel evaporation machine is only produced exclusively by Canon Tokki in Japan, and the success or failure of machine development will become the key.
OLED TVs succeeded in high-end TV market
Therefore, LGD may be able to reduce the scale of other investment plans, giving priority to the smooth implementation of the 10.5 OLED production line investment plan. LGD's planned investment plans include the 8th generation OLED production line in Guangzhou of the mainland and the 6th generation OLED production line (E6) in Paju, South Korea. Meanwhile, LGD also considered converting the 8th-generation LCD plant into an OLED production line. Currently, LGD tentatively plans to launch the 10.5 OLED production line in 2020.
