Peng Shuanglang, the chairman of AUO (2409), stated yesterday (2nd) that the opening of the World Cup in June will help sell large-size TVs. At present, AUO's oversized TV panels are in short supply.
AUO won the three awards of the 14th Corporate Social Responsibility Award of 2018 “Vision Magazine” yesterday. After Peng Shuanglang received the award, the above views were released on the panel market situation and AUO’s status.
He said: "Every major sporting event will drive demand for large-size TVs. The increase in the number might not be so much, but it is evident in the size expansion. From the second half of last year onwards, panel prices have dropped, and end products have fallen sharply. Consumers Switching to a larger size TV."
AUO is the leading supplier of super large-size TV panels to the world. It is understood that Sony, Samsung and other global first-line TV brands have come to AUO with 65, 75 inches in size.
Peng Shuanglang pointed out that during the peak season of the 3rd season, AUO was ready to meet the 3rd season peak season and its capacity utilization remained relatively high. He emphasized that, due to the opening of the World Cup in June, the current large-size panel is in short supply. He stressed that AUO's first-quarter revenue fell 7% from the fourth quarter of last year, but profits did not drop significantly. This is related to the value transformation in recent years. It will take many years and the effect will come out.
He said that the value transformation is reflected in the panel, which will have high specifications, customization, and a small amount of diversification, especially in commercial, industrial, and medical applications. This is not the same as mass production, product development, supply chain, and manufacturing. Each end is different and requires long adjustments. AUO's value-added transformation has been done for several years, and it can perform better than other competitors. The environment is not good and the impact is minimal.
