Apple Finds New OLED Screen Supplier For IPhone

April 22 news, according to foreign media reports, Apple hopes LG Display will become the second high-end iPhone OLED (organic light-emitting diode) screen suppliers to reduce dependence on Samsung Electronics. However, informed sources revealed that LG Display has encountered difficulties in manufacturing these screens and Apple's efforts have been met.
Informed sources said that LG Display (LG Display) is trying to increase the output of OLED screens, hoping to provide OLED screens for the iPhone released this year. However, manufacturing issues have caused LG to fall behind schedules before many suppliers began mass production of iPhone parts, and mass production usually starts around July.
LG Display's manufacturing process can only produce larger OLED panels, while Apple needs a smaller display. In addition, Apple also asked LG Display to carry out the third round of prototype production for the OLED display that may be equipped with the iPhone. Foreign media claimed that this is unusual for the accessory manufacturers.
Informed sources said that Apple has internal differences in whether LG Display can become the second supplier of OLED displays.
Compared to liquid crystal displays (LCDs), OLEDs are generally thinner, more flexible, and more colorful. Apple's iPhone X phone uses an OLED screen.
In January this year, foreign media reported that LG Display will supply OLED panels for over 15 million new iPhones. The company is building a production line of small-size flexible OLED screens and will start mass production in the second half of this year.
Samsung currently dominates the small-size OLED panel market and is the exclusive supplier of OLED panels for Apple’s high-end iPhone.
