The characteristics of the prism brightness enhancement film

Dec 30, 2021

The brightness enhancement film is abbreviated as B E F. It is an optical film with a uniform prism pattern precisely formed on the surface of PET with very good transparency, using acrylic resin. The brightness enhancement film is also called a prism sheet.

The prism sheet is a well-known brightness enhancement sheet, which uses a similar prism to correspond to different incident angles of light and has different angles of refraction to increase the front brightness of the screen. Prism film is an optical film made by using 3M micro-replication technology to fabricate a prism structure made of acrylic resin on a PET substrate. Its surface is a micro prism structure with a height of about 20-50 microns.

According to the principle of geometric optics, the light emitted by the backlight passes through the prism film and the cyclic action of the backlight system, and finally converges and exits in the frontal direction, thereby achieving a brightening effect.

Brightness enhancement film features

1. The most widely used prism sheets on the market are mainly single-sided structures.

2. The texture of most brand materials is wound at 180 degrees, and a very few of them are wound at 90 degrees.

3. Both sides of the raw material are covered with protective film. One side is thick and the other side is thin. (Because each brand model is different, please confirm the prism surface and PET surface according to the material property table)

Note: Because the materials of individual brands will be matted on the PET surface, it is not recommended to distinguish the prism surface from the PET surface by hand feeling
