Recognize industrial LCD screen parameters and terminology teach you how to select industrial LCD screen
May 15, 2018
Industrial LCD parameters are a significant factor that designers in the industrial field need to consider. Industrial LCD screens are currently in production from 6.4 inches to 70 inches.
Visibility
Good visibility is a highlight of industrial LCD screens. The LCD screen for industrial applications needs to be in a strong light environment.
Space size
Space issues. Support clear and precise visual effects from multiple angles. Most industrial environments are surrounded by strong light, which poses a challenge to the visibility of displays. The brighter the environment is, the more difficult it is for the LCD to transmit, because people can read 250-300 cdm2 readable brightness. Some LCD makers have tried to extend the range to more than 450cdm2. But these displays require more energy and this is not the best solution. Furthermore, these brightness levels are not enough to work in very bright environments. At present, many domestic manufacturers have already highlighted 1800cdm2 LCDs, among which there are many military liquid crystals that are above 2000cdm2.

Perspective
In a typical industrial environment, the operator prefers to look at the LCD screen instead of the positive angle at an oblique angle. Therefore, it is very important for a picture to be viewed from different angles (up, down, left and right) with little or no distorting of the picture or color change, especially if the display settings on the consumer application do not work well because the picture may be missing or Can't see oblique angles. Some techniques are used to improve the viewing angle on LCD bevels. Some movie-based technologies achieve viewing angles usually at 80° above, 60° below, 80° left and 80° right. These angles are sufficient for many applications but some applications may require a larger perspective. Co-planar conversion technology (IPS multi-quadrant vertical alignment technology (MVA and ultra-precision thin-film transistor technology (SFT) provides a welcome choice for various LCD manufacturers. These patented technologies can achieve a greater viewing angle than the film technology. For example, the SFT technology of NEC LCD technology achieves 85 angles of view from top to bottom, left and right, enabling the mechanical operator to view the liquid crystal display from almost any angle without having large image distortion or color change.
Resolution
Size and resolution also play a role in the overall readability. In general, the 6.58.410.412.1 and 15-inch LCDs in the LCD mode are mostly used in industrial applications. These sizes provide enough room for views, signal waveforms, or other graphics data without occupying too much of the device. The resolution requirement is mainly determined by the display information or display data. In the past, VGASVGA and XGA resolution were the most popular. However, more and more manufacturers are beginning to pay attention to the profits of large aspect ratio displays. Large vertical and horizontal modes such as WVGA and WXGA allow users to see longer information waveforms and more data on one display. These displays can also be designed to incorporate touch key functionality on the display surface, allowing users to switch between viewing data on a large aspect display or a standard aspect ratio display that incorporates touch screen functionality. This new advanced functionality is extremely helpful for simplifying the user interface.
Sustainability/dependency
The ability to resist temperature changes and vibrations is an important consideration in selecting displays for contemporary industrial applications. The display must be flexible enough to prevent mechanical operators or peripheral equipment from hitting or colliding, and it must be able to cope with various operating temperatures. Compared to CRTLCD, it is more resistant to temperature changes, collisions and vibrations. Storage and operating temperatures are also the main variables for selecting displays for industrial equipment. In general, a display is a component part of a large piece of equipment that is embedded in a closed container. In these cases, the temperature is affected by the heat generated by the closed vessel and the surrounding equipment. Therefore, keep in mind that the actual storage and operating temperature requirements are very important when selecting a display. Although some measures have been taken to dissipate the heat generated, such as the use of fans in closed containers, choosing a monitor that best fits these environments is the most effective way to ensure that storage and operating temperature requirements are met. The improvement of LCD data also makes it possible to expand the LCD's optimal temperature range. At present, many LCDs achieve a temperature range of -10--70°C.
Usability
When selecting a display for use in manufacturing a production environment, some other features that are more implicit than others need to be taken into consideration. For example, it is crucial to ensure that the failure time is minimized in order to achieve the maximum usage rate possible. Selecting the highest quality display and having available spare parts for on-site repairs rather than being sent to the outside for repair is very important. Industrial applications also require short-lived product life cycles. When the manufacturer no longer manufactures a certain model, the new display should be backwards compatible to conform to existing closed containers without having to redesign the entire system.
