Installation and composition of LED backlighting

  I. Device

  LCD is a non-illuminated display instrument, need to rely on the backlight to be able to display information role. In addition to the quality of the backlight, the cost of the backlight accounts for 3-5% of the LCD control module and 75% of the power consumed by the control module. Highly detailed, large size LCDs must be complemented by superior led backlight technology, so while the LCD industry chain is diligently developing new major applications, the led backlight technology is becoming superior in performance (e.g. high brightness, low cost, power saving, light weight, etc.).


II. Composition

  The key consists of a lamp source, a backlight source, a pulse damper for electro-optics, and a plastic frame. The backlight source is brighter, has a long life, and is uniformly bright. At this stage, there are three types of backlight sources: EL, CCFL and LED, which are divided into side light type and direct down type according to the different parts of the light source. As the LCD panel continues to develop in the direction of brighter, lighter and thinner, sidelight CCFL backlighting has become a popular backlighting trend at this stage.


  Electroluminescent (EL) backlighting is thin and light, and produces a uniform light source. It has a low functional loss and the specified working standard voltage is 80-100Vac. The inverter power supply presenting the working standard voltage can convert the 5/12/24Vdc key in to a communicating AC output. However, the lifetime of EL backlighting is relatively limited (the average lifetime at 50% chromaticity standard is 3000 to 5000 clock hours, at higher chromaticity levels the lifetime will be greatly reduced), therefore, the idealised inverter power supply for EL backlighting general lighting allows the output voltage and frequency to increase along with the brittleness of the EL electric bulb, thus increasing the reasonable lifetime of the display of the chosen EL backlighting luminaire light source. This in turn increases the reasonable service life of displays with EL-based inverter lighting sources.
