Adhesive-backed PC Reflective Film is a functional film material that integrates a polycarbonate (PC) substrate, a reflective layer, and an adhesive backing layer. Its core substrate, PC, possesses excellent impact resistance and weather resistance, maintaining structural stability in extreme temperature environments ranging from -40℃ to 120℃, preventing cracking and deformation, and providing a fundamental guarantee for long-term product use. The reflective layer employs a high-refractive-index glass microsphere or microprism structure design, achieving highly efficient retroreflection of incident light, with a reflectivity exceeding 97.5%. Even under low light or complex lighting conditions, it ensures clear visibility of target objects, effectively enhancing visual warning effects.

This product has a natural advantage in the field of safety protection. Its reflective properties significantly improve the visibility of objects in low-visibility environments, such as at night, in foggy weather, and in rainy weather, reducing the risk of accidents. Production Process of Adhesive-backed PC Reflective Film:

Substrate Pretreatment Stage:

High-purity PC granules are selected and melt-plasticized at 230℃-280℃. The resulting film is extruded into a continuous film using a T-die and then shaped using a cooling roller assembly at 50℃-80℃ to ensure uniform thickness (deviation within ±5%) and a smooth surface, laying the foundation for subsequent processes.

 

 

Reflective Layer Preparation and Lamination Stage:

The process is selected based on the product type. For glass microsphere structures, high-refractive-index (1.9-2.2) microspheres are mixed with resin to form a slurry, which is then coated and baked at 120℃-150℃ for curing. For microprism structures, resin is pressed using a precision mold and cured with ultraviolet light. The reflective layer is then laminated to the PC substrate at 80℃-120℃ and 0.3-0.5MPa to ensure no misalignment or bubbles, and structural stability after cooling.

Adhesive Coating and Drying Stage:

Acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive emulsion (polymerized at 60℃-80℃ for 4-6 hours) is coated onto the back of the PC reflective composite film at a thickness of 20μm-50μm. It is then dried in a gradient temperature range of 80℃-150℃ (3-5 minutes) to ensure complete solvent evaporation and that the adhesive layer's tack and cohesion meet standards.

Post-processing and Finished Product Inspection Stage:

Surface treatments such as antistatic and scratch-resistant coatings are applied as needed. The film is then slit into rolls or sheets of customized sizes (ensuring clean cuts). Finally, a full range of tests are conducted, including thickness, reflectivity, tack, and weather resistance (high and low temperature/UV testing). Qualified products are then waterproofed and stored.

Yes. The adhesive backing of this product is simple to use. Just clean the surface (wiping away dust and oil), peel off the protective film, align it, and press for 3-5 minutes to adhere. No professional tools are needed, making it suitable for personal home use.

Can I peel off and reapply Adhesive-backed PC Reflective Film after application?

Generally not recommended. The adhesive has strong initial tack and bonds tightly to the substrate after application. Forcibly peeling it off may leave adhesive residue or damage the film. If you need to adjust the position, it is recommended to gently peel and reapply within 10 minutes of application. After that time, it is not recommended.

Can I apply Adhesive-backed PC Reflective Film to outdoor cement walls?

Yes, but you need to ensure the cement wall surface is flat and free of loose particles. Before applying, sand any raised areas on the wall, wipe it clean with a damp cloth, and wait for the wall to dry before applying. This will improve the adhesion and prevent lifting due to rough surfaces.

How to clean Adhesive-backed PC Reflective Film when it gets dirty?

Simply wipe it with water and a soft cloth. Avoid using organic solvents such as alcohol and gasoline, and do not scrub with a hard-bristled brush to prevent damage to the reflective layer or adhesive. Let it air dry naturally after cleaning; this will not affect the reflective performance.

Will applying Adhesive-backed PC Reflective Film in winter affect its adhesion?

It will have a slight impact, but this can be resolved. Low winter temperatures reduce the initial tack of the adhesive. Before applying, you can use a hairdryer on a low setting to heat the adhesive side (about 30 seconds), or heat the surface to be applied to increase the adhesive's activity. After applying, extend the pressing time to 5-8 minutes to ensure a firm bond.
