Brightness enhancement film (BEF) is an optical film with a uniform prism pattern formed by acrylic resin on the surface of PET with very high transparency. It is generally used with upper and lower layers (i.e. horizontal and vertical stripes) to enhance brightness orthogonally. It is assembled on the front of the backlight source to focus the light emitted by the light source toward the user of the display device. In addition, the unused light outside the viewing angle is recycled according to the re-reflection effect of light and focused toward the user at the most appropriate angle.

what is prism sheet?

Brightness enhancement film is a core component of the display screen. It refers to a film or sheet in the TFT-LCD backlight module that can improve the luminous efficiency of the entire backlight system.

Brightness enhancement film is also called prism sheet according to its microscopic prismatic structure. It can also be called brightness enhancement film according to the process of correcting the direction of light to achieve the brightness enhancement effect. It is also often referred to as BEF.

Brightness enhancement film is a transparent optical film composed of a three-layer structure. The light-incoming surface of the bottom layer needs to provide a certain degree of haze through back coating; the middle layer is a transparent substrate layer; the light-emitting surface of the top layer is a micro-prism structure.

1. Material selection
- Usually use optical grade plastic raw materials with high light transmittance and good wear resistance such as polycarbonate (PC) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).

2. Extrusion film
- The plastic raw material is heated and melted by an extruder, and then continuously extruded into film through special molds and rollers.
- This step can produce a flat and smooth base film.

3. Microstructure processing
- Use precise embossing or replication technology on the surface of the base film to produce microscopic optical structures.
- These microstructures can refract and guide light, thereby exerting the optical function of BEF.

4. Cutting and finishing
